There are two types of essential fatty acids: Omega 3 and Omega 6.
Omega 3: linolenic acid.
- Vegetable origin. Within this type, we have from vegetable origin, like alpha-linolenic acid (AL) which is extracted from seed or vegetable oils.
- Animal origin. The most important are of marine origin, being the most outstanding eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Our body is able to transform the first group in the second group, despite the effectiveness of this transformation is not so high.
